We were approached to design a Brand Identity and several Garments for Paperboy Clothing Co.
We played with a concept that initially focused on the obvious things the company name brings to mind, "Paper" (slang for money) and Newspaper Delivery Boys. We began experimenting by using lots of £ signs amongst type, small childlike figures and icons. Eventually however we realised these solutions would not offer the level of sophistication needed to compete in todays clothing market.
The PaperBoy workmark incoporates an ancient symbol called the "Rune FA" which is a well know representative of wealth and prosperity. The "flag" icon element of the brand takes influence from Newspaper columns and how the First letter of a news story is always much larger than the others. This links the brand back to the paper delivery boy influence we began working with.
The brand has a real gritty edge but also a fresh new approach to the lifestyle clothing market. It's a darker take on the current trend and will appeal to a more eccentric, cultured consumer as intended.
